I'm a Scientist/Engineer - from the ScienceGrrl network

I'm a Scientist and I'm an Engineer are looking for scientists and engineers to take part in the upcoming March events and applications are now open!

Between 7th – 18th March, scientists and engineers will answer school students’ questions online, and engage directly with classes in live text-based chats. The students then vote for their favourites to win £500 to spend on further public engagement.

By taking part you'll develop your communication skills, gain a fresh perspective on your work, and find out what young people really think about science and engineering. You'll definitely show students that engineers and scientists are real people and you might even win! As everything happens online you can do all this from your laptop at work, from your phone on the train, or possibly even from your internet-of-thingsy kettle.

Read more and apply to take part by 24th January (this Sunday!) at: &

The events are organised into different zones, covering many different topics. Between Food, Fuel, Surgery and Robotics in I'm an Engineer, to Climate Change, Fat, three general science zones and more in I'm a Scientist, there is something for everyone.

AND: If you're based in, or were educated in, any part of Ireland we have two I'm an Engineer Ireland zones for you, taking place 29th Feb-11th March: Apply for the Space Zone and Coding Zone.

For an insight into what's involved, read what our winners from November thought about their experiences here: and here:
